Maddie’s Bedroom

As girly-girl sharing a house with two rowdy little brothers, it was fitting that Maddie’s new “grown up” bedroom took shape as a perfectly-pink REfuge from Nerf guns, Uglydolls, and other icky boy stuff.

Maddie and her mom had already done the legwork on most of the major elements (paint, linens, furniture, etc.) but asked me to step in to help them accessorize the space. Mom had already picked up a few fabulous things (check out the oil paintings above the dresser!), but we took a field trip to Anthropologie to source some more fun pieces, including the great green frames above the bed.

Fortunately, we had a great selection of items to REincorporate from Maddie’s old room, including the mirror next to the bed and many of the picture frames and other knick knacks throughout the space.

We jazzed up the dresser a bit with some colorful glass knobs, helping the piece transition from toddler to “tween” in no time at all...just like Maddie has, it seems!

Finally, we created cute little vignettes around the room, filled with Maddie’s favorite photos and some pretty little art pieces, taking care to spread bright pops of green throughout to keep the space fun, lively, and not too precious.

All in all, a great space for this very grown-up 10-year old to transition to her teen years…when those little brothers of hers will hardly be the only boys on her mind.
